Running Form – a Prerequisite for Health and Elegance
Although runing is the most natural type of human locomotion, some of us have to re-learn it before being able to run longer distances injury-free. This is due to our “bad habits” of our civilization, especially lack of exercise and frequent sitting. If you are lucky, regular barefoot running on a hard ground is enough to automatically trigger an improvement of your posture and body tension. But possibly a few supplementary workouts will be required to strengthen some particular muscle groups and to improve their coordination.
Technical workouts
Here are a number of workouts we perform on demand:
coordination and strengthening workout within the “runner's ABC”
muscle-tension workout for improved calf strength and foot stability
self-massage of injury-prone muscles and tendons (e.g. medial section of the shin) using a fascia roll
stretching (mainly of leg and gluteal muscles)
When you join the Marburg Running School, it is our pleasure to give you an individual introduction
into the essentials of good running form and typical mistakes
what to consider for choosing the right running shoes
and to analyze your personal running form with respect to your biomechanical problems.
Running-gait analysis
A poor running form is often caused by a imperfect posture of your arms and torso. Therefore, when we analyze your running gait, we do not only concentrate on the movements of your legs and feet but also observe the upper parts of your body. Our analysis scheme consists of a static (standing) and a kinematic (running/walking) section.
When conditions are favourable (bright and dry weather), we offer you a video analysis whose results you will receive via e-mail.
We do not aim to give you shoe or orthotics recommendation but tips to improve your form actively.
Of course, this gait analysis is free of charge - like every service of the Marburg Running School.
